Aasif Mandvi

Aasif Mandvi is well known for his work as a correspondent on Comedy Central’s Emmy-winning show, THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART. Notable television work includes US & THEM, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, SEX AND THE CITY, SLEEPER CELL, THE SOPRANOS, THE BEDFORD DIARIES, OZ, CSI, LAW AND ORDER, and TANNER ON TANNER directed by Robert Altman. Recurring roles include JERICHO and ER. Currently, Aasif is writing, producing, and starring in HBO’s series, THE BRINK, co-starring Jack Black and Tim Robbins.
 
November marked the release of his memoir, NO LAND’S MAN, a collection of humorous and personal stories published by Chronicle Books.
 
Aasif is also a critically acclaimed stage actor who received rave reviews for creating the role of ‘Amir Kapoor’ in the world premiere of Ayad Akhtar’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, DISGRACED, at Lincoln Center. He was the recipient of the 1999 OBIE award for SAKINA’S RESTAURANT, a critically acclaimed play he wrote and starred in. Other stage credits include the Broadway revival of OKLAHOMA and SUBURBIA.
 
In film, Aasif’s recent work includes, MILLION DOLLAR ARM with Jon Hamm, THE INTERNSHIP, starring alongside Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, MOVIE 43, THE DICTATOR with Sacha Baron Cohen, DARK HORSE for Todd Solondz, RUBY SPARKS, (from the creators of LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE), GODS BEHAVING BADLY, and PREMIUM RUSH. He also co-wrote and starred in TODAY’S SPECIAL, which premiered at the London Film Festival. Additional film credits include leads in THE LAST AIRBENDER and THE MYSTIC MASSEUR, and supporting roles in IT’S KIND OF A FUNNY STORY, THE PROPOSAL, GHOST TOWN, MUSIC AND LYRICS, SPIDER-MAN 2, FREEDOMLAND, ANALYZE THIS, MARGIN CALL, and THE SIEGE.

Desiree Burch

Desiree Burch is a writer, comedian, storyteller and actress, best known for her full-length solo shows, which have toured NY, L.A., San Francisco, Seattle, New Orleans, London, Amsterdam and Edinburgh. She is a performer in Young Jean Lee’s “Untitled Feminist Show” and the staged performances of “Welcome to Night Vale”. Stand-up and short-form performances have been featured at 59E59, Ars Nova, LaMama, P.S. 122, DR2, Dixon Place, Carolines, Joe’s Pub, the New Museum, and WNYC’s The Greene Space. She is a New York Neo-Futurist, an arts educator (American Place Theater), public speaker (TEDx), and a graduate of Yale University.

Johanna Gohmann

Johanna Gohmann has written for Salon, xoJane, and is a regular contributor to Bust magazine, where she’s written about lactating men, female furries, and history of the vaginal speculum. Her essays have been anthologized in A Moveable Feast: Life-Changing Food Adventures Around the World, Joan Didion Crosses the Street, The Best Women’s Travel Writing 2010, The Best Sex Writing 2010, The Best Women’s Travel Writing Volume 10, and Every Father’s Daughter. She’s performed at Sunday Night Sex Talks and is a Moth Slam Winner.
 

Athalie Paynting

Athalie Paynting was born in a ballroom in Hong Kong and is a former semi-pro wrestler turned sales executive. She is a two-time Moth Story Slam winner and has been a featured storyteller at Whatever Happened to the Nerds, Shut Up: An All Female Story Telling Show, The Adam Wade from NH Show and Tell It: Brooklyn. She is going to be showcased during Dark Fest at The Tank later this month and is debuting her solo show “Phone Bone” this coming October – a roller coaster tale about a 19 year-old virgin who gets into the phone sex business in Southern California. She loves miniature food, hates unnecessary noise and Miles Davis made fun of her once.

Robin Gelfenbien is the self-proclaimed Ambassador of Fun and an NYC-based storyteller, writer and comedian. She’s a three-time Moth Story SLAM winner who has performed on PBS, RISK!, Mortified and countless other shows. She’s also shared the stage with Hannah Gadsby, Trevor Noah and more.

Robin is the Creator and Host of the storytelling series and podcast, “Yum’s the Word,” that features her homemade ice cream cakes. The show has been named a New York Times and Time Out New York Critic’s Pick. Guests have included Tim Gunn, Jason Biggs, Joy Behar and stars from “Orange is the New Black.”

New York Magazine called her solo show, “My Salvation Has a First Name: A Wienermobile Journey,” “the highlight of the Fringe” and Time Out New York gave it 4 stars.

She’s performed her original comedy songs at The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center and on Sirius Radio. She’s also been featured in Marie Claire magazine and she starred in a commercial directed by Spike Lee.
