Time Out New York Women of Comedy 2014

Aparna Nancherla

Aparna Nancherla official site | Aparna Nancherla on Twitter

Aparna Nancherla is a comedian and general silly billy. Her sense of humor is dry, existential, and absurd, with notes of uncalled-for whimsy. Think a wine you didn’t order.

You can currently watch Aparna as Grace the belabored HR rep on the Comedy Central’s Corporate. She has also appeared on Two Dope Queens on HBO, Bojack Horseman, Crashing, Master of None, A Simple Favor, Love, and Inside Amy Schumer. Her half-hour special is available on Netflix and her debut album, Just Putting It Out There, is available through Bentzen Ball Records.

On Monday nights, Aparna co-hosts the new show Butterboy at Littlefield in Park Slope at 8 p.m. with Jo Firestone and Maeve Higgins.

Michelle Wolf

Michelle Wolf is originally from Hershey, PA and moved to New York after getting a job on Wall Street. She quickly realized that was a terrible choice and, knowing there was no where to go but up, started taking improv. She performed at both the PIT and UCB, and, eventually started writing stuff down. Since then, Michelle has become one of the fastest rising comedic talents in the city. She is a writer and producer on MTV’s Girl Code and was head writer for the 2013 Style Awards on CNN. Michelle was recently named to Complex Magazine’s 50 Funniest Comedians on Twitter with the likes of Steve Martin, Ricky Gervais, and Chris Rock. She is also a writer for the highly popular internet greeting cards, Someecards.com. Check Michelle out on twitter @michelleisawolf. She is literally always on it

Charla Lauriston

Charla Lauriston official site

Charla Lauriston has written for Why? with Hannibal Buress and the first season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, the Tina Fey-produced Netflix comedy. She’s been listed as one of 8 Black Women Ready for SNL by Essence Magazine, was Joke of the Week in Time Out New York, was featured on MTV (Other)’s Truth or Dare, and has performed stand-up and at the New York Comedy Festival, the She-Devil Festival, and the Chicago Women’s Funny Festival. Charla is the creator of the critically acclaimed webseries Clench & Release, performs stand-up all over the country, and one time she was briefly mentioned in Time Out Chicago as being “real good.”

Emmy Blotnick is a comedian and writer based in New York. Her half hour standup special will air on Comedy Central later this year. Currently she is Head Writer/Co-Executive Producer of The President Show on Comedy Central. Previously, Emmy wrote for The Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe, Not Safe with Nikki Glaser, Comedy Central’s @midnight with Chris Hardwick, TruTV’s Billy On The Street, MTV’s Nikki & Sara Live, Vh1’s Best Week Ever and others. As a performer, Emmy was named one of Comedy Central’s Comics To Watch and Time Out New York’s Women of Comedy. She has appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, @midnight and in the Comedy Central web series New Timers. Emmy is originally from Boston, but regretfully has no accent or bar-fighting experience.
