About BAD: The Autobiography of James Carr
An unapologetic, brutal memoir from notorious 60s career criminal and Black Panther James Carr. BAD covers Carr’s life from his first arrest at age 10, through merciless stints in San Quentin, through his post-incarceration murder in San Jose in 1972. Richard Katrovas

RICHARD KATROVAS’s new memoir, Raising Girls in Bohemia: Meditations of an American Father is filled with remarkable personal and political essays chronicling the life of a father of three Czech-American daughters. Over the course of 23 fine essays, Katrovas unveils what it means to be an American and to be a man, and especially what it means to be a father of three daughters, born in Prague, in what we can only hope is the twilight of patriarchy. Writer Stuart Dybek (The Coast of Chicago) calls it “a vital, one-of-a-kind book,” while novelist Tracy Kidder (Strength in What Remains) proclaims in “a potent, fascinating book.” The recipient of numerous grants and awards, Richard Katrovas is the founding academic director of the Prague Summer Program, and the author of seven collections of poetry, a short story collection, a novel, and three memoirs. He lives in Kalamazoo, Michigan; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Prague, Czech Republic.

Ron Dakron

RON DAKRON’s novel, Hello Devilfish! is a Manglish-splashed, comic, first-person account of a giant blue Japanese movie-monster stingray’s attack on contemporary Tokyo and his tragic morph into human form. Library Journal calls it “an audacious, laugh-out-loud novel.” Noted bizarro novelist Carlton Mellick III (Quicksand House), exclaims that the book is “Clever, smart, engaging and completely unique. Ron Dakron is one of the most imaginative authors I’ve ever read.” Born in Chicago, Dakron’s early creative work blossomed in Seattle where he worked as a street violinist and house painter, and developed a confrontational poetic performance style “drenched in faux punkery.” His five novels explore differing styles of poetic prose, from Romanticism, to cubism, B-movie satire to mangled Japanese translation. He lives in Seattle, WA

Michael T. Fournier

MICHAEL T. FOURNIER’s second novel Swing State, overlooked decades-long economic downturn in the rural Northeast. With an unflinching eye, novelist Michael T. Fournier lays bare the dim dreams and raw existence of the lives of three residents of Armbrister, New Hampshire, who share the same goal: get out. Faced with grim prospects, the intersection of bullying and terrorism blurs, with disastrous consequences in this deftly woven tale. Writer Mike Faloon (The Hanging Gardens of Split Rock) proclaims, “Fournier is one of our best writers and Swing State is his finest book yet.” Michael T. Fournier is the author of Hidden Wheel and Double Nickels on the Dime, a book-length discussion of the 1984 Minutemen album. His writing has appeared in the the Oxford American, Vice, Pitchfork, and the Boston Globe. He lives in Western Massachusetts with his wife Rebecca and their cat.
