Looking to set their music apart from Western classical conventions, Russian composers including Borodin turned east for inspiration. Blending these influences with their own folk traditions, they created a new sound that was by turns sensuous and exuberant. Soprano Anna Netrebko will join three stars of the Met’s new production of Borodin’s Prince Igor for the event—bass-baritone Ildar Abdrazakov, who sings the title role, mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili, and bass Štefan Kocán. The concert will include arias from Prince Igor as well as selections by other Russian composers. Musicians will include pianist Natalia Katyukova, an assistant conductor at the Met.

Table seating for all seated shows is reserved exclusively for ticket holders who purchase “Table Seating” tickets. By purchasing a “Table Seating” ticket you agree to also purchase a minimum of two food and/or beverage items per person. Table seating is first come, first seated. Please arrive early for the best choice of available seats. Seating begins when doors open. Tables are communal so you may be seated with other patrons. We do not take table reservations.
A standing room area is available by the bar for all guests who purchase “Standing Room” tickets. Food and beverage can be purchased at the bar but there is no minimum purchase required in this area.

Anna Netrebko opened the Met’s 2013–14 season as Tatiana in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, becoming the first soprano in the company’s 130-year history to star in three consecutive opening night performances. This January, she reprises her star turn as Adina in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore, in the acclaimed 2012 production. She opened the 2011–12 season with her company role debut as the title character in Donizetti’s Anna Bolena. Since her Met debut as Natasha Rostova in the 2002 company premiere of Prokofiev’s War and Peace, conducted by Valery Gergiev, she has appeared in a total of 15 roles, including the title heroines of Massenet’s Manon and Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, both Mimì and Musetta in La Bohème, Gilda in Rigoletto, Antonia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Norina in Don Pasquale, and Elvira in I Puritani.
Anita Rachvelishvili returns to the Met this February as Konchakovna in Borodin’s Prince Igor. She made her Met debut in 2011 as the title heroine of Bizet’s Carmen and has established herself as one of the world’s leading interpreters of the role, having sung it to critical acclaim at La Scala, Arena di Verona, Teatro Verdi in Salerno, the Seattle Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and London’s Royal Opera House. Career highlights include the Princess de Bouillon in a concert performance of Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur with Opera Orchestra of New York, Dulcinée in Massenet’s Don Quichotte at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Orfeo in Gluck’s Orfeo et Euridice at Spain’s Castell de Peralada Festival, and the title role of Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri at La Scala.
Ildar Abdrazakov sings the title role of Prince Igor at the Met this season. He made his company role debuts as Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro and in the title role of Don Giovanni in 2012, having previously appeared in that opera as Leporello and Masetto (for his 2004 Met debut). His other Met performances include Escamillo in Carmen, Mustafà in Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri, Alidoro in La Cenerentola, Méphistophélès in Gounod’s Faust and Berlioz’s La Damnation de Faust, Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Dosifei in Mussorgsky’s Khovanshchina, Enrico in the Met premiere of Donizetti’s Anna Bolena, the Four Villains in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, and the title role in the Met premiere of Verdi’s Attila, conducted by Riccardo Muti.
Štefan Kocán returns to the Met this February as Khan Konchak in Prince Igor. He has appeared on major stages around the world, including La Scala, the Vienna State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Teatre del Liceu, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Berlin’s Deutsche Staatsoper. Since making his Met debut in 2009 as the King in Aida, he has sung more than 60 performances with the company, primarily in Verdi roles such as Ramfis in Aida, Sparafucile in Rigoletto, Ferrando in Il Trovatore, and the Grand Inquisitor in Don Carlo. He has also sung the Commendatore in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and earlier this season appeared as Prince Gremin in Eugene Onegin.
Natalia Katyukova is a highly regarded collaborative pianist and currently an assistant conductor at the Metropolitan Opera. A graduate of the Moscow State Conservatory, the Juilliard School, and the Met’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, her teachers have included Margo Garrett, Jonathan Feldman, Brian Zeger, Ken Noda, and Lev Naumov.
