The Inspired Word Presents We Heart NYC Writers Night + Open Mic in The Gallery at LPR.
 
This is a celebration of New York City writers of all types – poets, novelists, journalists, short story writers. Shows will feature as many as five carefully selected readers and a 7-slot open mic (5-minute time limit).
 
Newly released signed books will be available for purchase – a great chance to show local literary love.

Aimee Herman is a Brooklyn-based poet and performance artist looking to disembowel the architecture of gender and what it means to queer the body. Find Aimee’s poems in Troubling the Line: Trans and Genderqueer Poetry and Poetics (Nightboat Books), in the full-length collection, to go without blinking (BlazeVOX books), the recent chapbook, rooted, (Dancing Girl Press), and in the forthcoming full-length book of poems, meant to wake up feeling (great weather for MEDIA). Aimee is an adjunct professor at Bronx Community College, a faculty member with Poetry Teachers NYC and a writing mentor/workshop facilitator for the Red Umbrella Project through their memoir writing drop-in classes specifically for those in the sex trades. Dolan Morgan lives in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, where he helps edit The Atlas Review. He’s the author of two story collections, That’s When the Knives Come Down (A|P,2014), and INSIGNIFICANA (CCM, 2016). His work can be found in The Believer, PANK, Electric Literature’s Recommended Reading, Selected Shorts, and the trash.

Jennifer Faylor is a poet from New York City and has her MFA in poetry from Sarah Lawrence College. She is the author of a choose-your-own-adventure poetry chapbook, “The Case of the Missing Lover” (Dancing Girl Press, 2013), and a full-length book of poetry, “Edison’s Ghost Machine” (Aldrich Press, 2014).

Bob LeMoullec is a longtime New York City journalist, for radio, TV, and print. He did freelance reporting at the Associated Press, UPI, ABC Radio networks, WNBC-AM, WABC-AM, and the New York Post before moving on to all-news 1010 WINS in New York City and then joining Fox News as a television news producer. He has won outright or shared in more than thirty news awards from the AP, UPI, New York State Broadcasters Association and the Radio and Television News Directors Association. His new book is called The Newsroom Confessions: What Happens in the Newsroom, Stays in the Newsroom, Except in this Case. He currently teaches broadcast writing to college students at SUNY Rockland.

Sean DesVignes is the author of Take My Eyes To The Dry Cleaners (evolNYC 2014), his first book of poems. His poetry has won the Beatrice Dubin Rose Award & the Burton A. Goldberg Poetry Prize. His work appears or is forthcoming in BLACK PANTONE, Vinyl, Solstice, [PANK], The Bakery & more. Sean is a Cave Canem Fellow, a Callaloo Fellow, & an undergraduate at Brooklyn College.

Megan DiBello founded Poetry Teachers NYC in 2010. She holds a M.F.A from Naropa University, in Writing & Poetics and a B.A. from Marymount Manhattan College. She has been published in Fact-Similie, Flanour Foundry, The Bathroom, & Monkey Puzzle Press. Megan has performed at the White Box Gallery, The Bowery Poetry Club, The HOWL Festival, The Socrates Sculpture Park, The Center of Book Arts, Metropolitan Pavilion, Columbia University, and the DUMBO Arts Festival. Her first hybrid book is entitled, Voyeur Without A Title.
