Nigel Hall is an honest, humble guardian of soul music. When asked about himself, Nigel reflects, “I’m just someone who lives, eats, drinks music.” This ethic becomes clear when Nigel takes the stage. His energetic vocals add yet another layer of sonic depth and energy to each project he puts his time into. Nigel is also an established keyboardist, currently working with The Nth Power, Jon Cleary and Lettuce.
Jennifer Hartswick is one of the most exciting performers in music today. She inspires audiences all over the world with her powerful voice and commanding trumpet playing. She exudes confidence and joy and brings her own refreshing spirit to the stage every time she performs. Jennifer’s music is honest, soulful and comes with a maturity far beyond her years.
If you listen closely to Unfolding, the extraordinary debut album by Natalie Cressman and her band Secret Garden, she provides all the clues necessary to uncover the treasure trove of influences and inspirations behind her music. Hailing from an illustrious musical family, the San Francisco-raised trombonist, vocalist and composer has been adopted by a disparate cast of masters, and at 21 years old she’s honed a preternaturally worldly conception of her own.
From Carnegie Hall to the House of Blues, from the Apollo to Lincoln Center, her versatility and enthusiasm for new music has propelled her into a richly diverse musical career. An accomplished improviser who has performed with Nicholas Payton, Wycliffe Gordon, and Peter Apfelbaum’s NY Hieroglyphics Ensemble, she’s gained her widest exposure through two years of touring with Phish’s Trey Anastasio. At the same time she’s managed to excel in her studies at Manhattan School of Music and perform at top New York jazz spots with her own band. Unfolding captures her rapidly blossoming sensibility, a sound shaped by her love of Cuban, Brazilian and West African music, indie rock, funk and the post-bop continuum.
James Casey has been blessed to share the stage with amazing artists such as Soulive, Alecia Chakour, Dumpstaphunk, Nigel Hall, Ledisi, John Medeski, Skerik, George Porter, Nicholas Payton, Talib Kweli, Bilal, The Roots, Jennifer Holiday, Chaka Kahn, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Hadrien Feraud, Ryan Leslie, Hezekiah Walker, Marvin Sapp, and many more.
Brooklyn-based bass player Ron Johnson’s career began in California. While working towards a B.A. degree in Improvised Music Studies (Jazz) at San Jose State University, Ron was asked to record and tour with blues guitarist Chris Cain. Ron’s real education came from six years of smokey bars and festivals from Memphis to Frankfurt, and Bangkok to Little Rock, with Cain. This also meant hours upon late night hours in a van filled with the music of Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Billy Preston, Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson, and the three kings, Albert, Freddy and B.B. He also toured internationally with Joe Louis Walker and Maria Muldaur. During this period of extensive road work Ron shared the stage with such luminaries as – Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, Johnny Copeland, Mike Finnigan, Jon Cleary, Mavis Staples and many, many others.
Founded by guitar prodigy Bobby Paltauf. At the age of 14-years-old, he has already played with some of the most notable musicians the industry has to offer such as Buddy Guy, Ivan Neviile’s Dumpstaphunk, The Meter Men (Leo Nocentelli, George Porter, Jr, Zigaboo Modeliste w/Page McConnell), The Revivalists, DJ Logic, Twiddle, America, Kung Fu, Deep Banana Blackout, Jen Durkin, Andrew Gromiller, Anders Osborne, Stanton Moore, Papa Mali, Rob Mercurio, John Medeski, Lucky Peterson, Joe Tatton (New Mastersounds) and the Fundamensionals. And now adding all this to the newly formed band, Wow!
With Bobby’s and the bands, unique blend of blues, funk, rock and jam band sounds, has already earned them a great deal of attention on the scene and they have only just begun to make their mark. The band plans to complete their first full length album by the spring which promises to impress music lovers near and far.
