DJ Suga Ray

Versatility and keen skills have been key ingredients that have positioned DJ Suga Ray as one of the world’s most respected and beloved deejays. His unique charisma, charming good looks and musical knowledge have made him the go-to disc jockey for international high-profile soirees, major corporate events, weekend club parties, and celebrity world tours. With constant praise, coveted jobs, and a budding public presence, DJ Suga Ray seems to be getting hotter by the minute.
 
Born in Jamaica, Raymond Chambers’ parents relocated to Florida when Ray was a toddler. With a father who was a DJ in their native Jamaica, Ray was deeply influenced by the soulful and Caribbean-inspired sounds on the streets of Miami. He attended North Miami Beach Senior High School and in 2000 left for New York to attend the School of Visual Arts. His love for entertaining heightened, and Ray started spinning in his dorm room and began to notice a newfound passion and respect for his father’s treasured art form. After securing a couple of local and university gigs, Ray found joy in learning how to mix and scratch and studied the turntablists of the 1990s hip-hop movement..
 
Through focus and determination, Ray sharpened his skills. In 2002, Ray was hired by superstar Britney Spears to DJ a charity event in Cape Cod and was booked as an annual DJ for the singer’s summer camp for children. In 2004, Ray was offered an opportunity to DJ for the after party for the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival and has been DJ for Mayor Bloomberg’s picnic for every year since that same year. Local club gigs soon followed, and Ray began to develop a reputation around New York City’s entertainment, fashion and political elite. Before too long, Ray was receiving calls from Hollywood actors, including Matt Damon, Robert DeNiro, Jennifer Aniston and Ludacris, just to name a few, and has been hired to provide entertainment at some of their most lavish and private affairs.
 
Ray’s multitalented abilities, fast record flipping and his standout live remixes have made him a stand out amongst a city overflowing with record spinning personalities. Ray’s comfort with all musical genres, his impressive skills and easy spirit led to more with weekly gigs at various trendy clubs and top lounges throughout the nation, and by 2007 DJ Suga Ray was also booking recurring and resident gigs for major corporations, such as HBO, Google, and the W Hotels.
 
From hip-hop to reggae, rock to soul and mainstream hits to underground classics, DJ Suga Ray induces adaptable soul-stirring music that electrifies any event. Whether it’s a private party or a multitude of thousands, DJ Suga Ray’s effect is undeniable. As evident by his long history with music, his international gigs and popular reputation, Suga Ray proves to be a celebration must-have, an industry favorite and one of the world’s leading disc jockeys.
 
DJ Suga Ray currently resides in Brooklyn, New York and is the resident DJ at Club Slane where he spins every Friday.
