The Duchess and the Fox The Duchess and the Fox

The Duchess and the Fox, comprised of piano-man, Joe McGinty, and witchy soul singer, Andrea Diaz, play sensual cabaret music that harkens back to a more sumptuous era. The pair met each other on a balmy summer night at the Manhattan Inn, brought together by a piano karaoke rendition of “I Put A Spell on You.” Soon, they were crafting songs based on their mutual love of grainy noir films and old-school song sirens.

Joe McGinty was a member of the Psychedelic Furs and has played with the Ramones, Nada Surf, Ryan Adams and many others. He is the founder and music director for Loser’s Lounge, the legendary tribute show, now in its 20th year. He hosts Live Piano Karaoke at the Manhattan Inn in Greenpoint and has a studio filled with vintage keyboards.

Andrea Diaz is a California native who after moving to New York City to become a painter, quickly fell into the city’s vibrant music scene. In addition to playing with the Duchess and the Fox, she performs in Stuart Bogie’s acclaimed music project, Superhuman Happiness, and is currently working on releasing her solo project, Dia Luna.
