Artists
David Ford
Any attempts at modern comparisons don't quite get to the heart of David Ford. To find his actual peers you have to go back to some of the great curveball mavericks of melody, romance and inventiveness. Artists such as Tom Waits, Neil Young and Todd Rungren, whose haunting, harmonious melodies are frequently offset by barbed, poignant lyrics.
'Shit happens but if it doesn't kill you, get up and keep moving forward' is Ford's eminently sensible take on life and one that encompasses every song on his debut album I Sincerely Apologise For All The Trouble I've Caused. Debut single the brilliantly polemic 'State Of The Union, set the agenda distilled from 'page after page of vitriolic spouting', the song superbly encapsulates the everyday experience of being lied to, cheated and generally fucked over by Big Government/business/media/record labels, a subject Ford holds close to his heart...
'I Sincerely Apologise For All The Trouble I've Caused' is an album of words and melodies that whisper and shout defiantly at the constant disappointments that litter our lives. Very much an advocator of the DIY approach, Ford recorded the album in the cellar of his Lewes flat. The album's tone is set by key songs such as the epic 'I Don't Care What You Call Me' – 'a bastards lament' and David's memo to himself, the anthemic 'Cheer Up (You Miserable Fuck)', which features his local football team on backing vocal duties.
A natural in front of an audience Ford isn't afraid to take risks with the occasional inspired cover version. These covers have become a regular feature at his annual charity event Milk & Cookies. 2006's Milk & Cookies featured Ford versions of Madonna's Like A Prayer and Outkasts 'Roses' plus a riotous cover of Abba's 'Dancing Queen' with guest artist Fran Healy from Travis.
Following critical acclaim for I Sincerely Apologise...in the UK, Ford travelled to the U.S where his album was met with an equally warm reception. Stunning reviews ran in the New York Times, Rolling Stone and Variety and Ford found himself championed by NBC's Carson Daly on whose show he appeared three times. Support slots with Richard Ashcroft, Ray Lamontagne and Aimee Mann followed, with Ford now counting Neil Young and Springsteen amongst his fans.
Ford is set to release the follow up to I Sincerely Apologise For All The Trouble I've Caused in September and once again Ford is 'doing it all himself” although this time round he'll be joined by, amongst others, legendary pedal steel player BJ Cole. The album is preceded by the single Go To Hell, available on download from July 9th.

Special Guest Amy Correia
“Flitting among styles with ease, Amy Correia wraps her raspy, earthy voice as comfortably around a gospel yowl as around a whispered confessional."
-Erin Meister Timeout Magazine
"Like Michelle Shocked and Tom Waits, Ms. Correia turns imperfections into intimacies." -Jon Pareles, The New York Times
Amy Correia is a singer/songwriter who made waves with her Capitol debut “Carnival Love” and received critical acclaim for her second album “Lakeville,” which became a New York Times "Critic’s Choice" by Jon Pareles. Correia recently finished her third full-length album this summer with Producer, Paul Bryan (Aimee Mann, Alan Touissant, Lucinda Williams). The new album "You Go Your Way" was funded entirely by her fans who raised over $35,000.00 last year to bring it to life. CBS News aired a piece this winter, featuring Correia as one of a growing number of artists looking towards their fans rather than a record label to get their albums made. A blend of gospel and orchestral elements, the new CD features Correia's lyrical prowess and distinctive vocals out front with top shelf string arrangements and on one song, a five-piece horn section wrapping around her. "There's a spirited and spiritual vein running through this new album which is a varied mix of sound and style: gospel, blues, classical, folk and a tinge of psychedelia." Correia explains. It will be widely available late Spring 2010. It's available now directly through her website.
