Russ Chimes
In a sea of postmodern hipsters come bedroom producers on a sparkling lilo of talent. Russ Chimes is a man from the UK who knows whats in the party. Sounding a bit like something halfway between a Sega game and an airbrushed mural of Wayfarer’d flamingos, Russ Chimes’ tunes may at times elicit some degree of nostalgia, although the inherent quality definitley proves he’s more about about doing what feels good rather than the irony. (in a manner perhaps akin to funk fanatics Chromeo).

Russ (a 25 year old producer from London) also heads up the british wing of French west coast retro-futuristic collective Valerie, and blends some seriously catchy 80’s synth hooks with some really impressive layering and lush composition, all topped with a groove that can keep you dancing until the sun comes up over the beach front palm trees.

Russ has come to receive some significant blog attention for his own tracks and has already knocked out stellar remixes for the likes of Sam Sparro, Chromeo and The Millioners. With an E.P and new remixes in the pipeline he is definitely one to watch this year.

So if you’re in that kind of miami-neon sort of mood then head over to Russ’s myspace page, as She’s Got The Heat is what you need playing out of your drop top Ferrari 328. seriously.

Somewhere in the urban chaos of the East Village, New York City's hipster-area, lives Kap10kurt, programmer and musician. Originally from switzerland, he has been making music with a 4-Track cassette recorder and an Atari computer for many years before ending up with a proper studio set-up. Kap10kurt's music spans a number of genres including electro, gameBoy noise, 80's new wave and 70's synthesizer funk. Conceptualizing and building his trademark sound, the vintage synthesizer collector focuses on extremely rhythmic and muscular basslines and strong drumbeats that fly straight into your ears like blazing starfighters. More than apparent in many of the Kaptain's recordings is his immense attention to detail and sound, which brought him work as a programmer and engineer for major stars like Moby, Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan and Cindy Lauper as well as remixes for the Bravery, Dave Gahan, Ocelot, Grafton Primary and BluemanGroup. His debut release was on techno dj John Selway's label MemoryBoy. The single "Die Sleeping", featuring Columbia recording artist Nellie McKay, was part of the critically acclaimed compilation series "The Sound Of Young New York" and enjoyed spins all over the world. More recently the Kap10Kurt dancefloor destroyer 'Dangerseekers' has been included on the Kitsune Udon complilation in japan. 'Dangerseekers' also reached #1 for several weeks on the Micromusic download chart and was released on November 5 2007 on Plantmusic as a 12' picture disc featuring remixes by Shinichi Osawa, Tepr and Rolf Honey (Rolf Z & Yuksek) which gets great reviews and was featured in the weekly Top10 of Xlr8r and receives Blog-love from Fluokids and Bigstereo among many others. In October 2007, Dave Gahan released his 'Hourglass' Album. The Single and 12' Releases will features 3 violent and sweaty remixes by Kap10kurt aka k10k alongside BookaShade and Digitalism. The kap10 also performed live with Monsieur Gahan on his recent tv and promo concerts. He is currently working on Tracks for the upcoming Depeche Mode album to be released in December 08. Up next is the release of "Mission Complete" on 12" Vinyl with remixes By Moulinex, Tepr (Yelle), Ocelot, Symbol One and more. Kap10kurt has been bringing his latest party-rocking stompers to the dancefloors all over the Japan, US and Europe. The Live show is carefully crafted for optimum listening and viewing pleasure.
