ELEW & Very Disco Discovery

It’s a simple, powerful equation: rock + jazz = rockjazz.
This iconic artist’s roots lie at the top of jazz, where he toured the world as a pianist for legends Wynton Marsalis, Elvin Jones and Josh Groban. Shortly after winning the prestigious International Thelonious Monk competition, Eric Lewis had an epiphany: he related more to modern music than jazz.

Lewis drew the curtain and reemerged as ELEW, a revolutionary artist who combines virtuosic skill on the piano with pop and rock songs, creating Rockjazz, a genre that blends the classic with the contemporary.

ELEW’s unprecedented, unconventional, explosively physical style has drawn a legion of die-hard fans, including Harvey Weinstein, Steve Tisch, Larry Gagosian, Dave Matthews, Naomi Campbell, Forest Whitaker, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brooke Shields, and Woody Harrelson, among others. He has performed worldwide at the behest of Google, Fendi, Disney, Mercedes Benz, Donna Karan, D Squared, Lincoln Motor Company, among others.

He is a favorite of global thought leaders and tastemakers, he is regularly called to perform for the TED Conference, Summit Series, TechCrunch’s Disrupt, Khosla, among others. Rockjazz has shaken the stage on America’s Got Talent and at the White House, where ELEW performed for Barack and Michelle Obama.

With the rise in electronic music, ELEW has drawn the curtain once more, this time reemerging as a DJ and electronic music producer. As a DJ, he fuses the analog with the digital, setting the turntables inside the piano, or rocking out on a keyboard as he spins open format.

ELEW has spun for prominent New York nightclubs such as Avenue, HAUS, Beautique, Mr. H, for hotels such as Soho House, The Mondrian, The Delano, The Hudson, and at global events such as Sundance and Art Basel.

In addition to iconic jazz albums, ELEW’s musical versatility can be heard on Lil Wayne’s 2013 album “I Am Not a Human Being II,” and on ELEW’s soon-to-be-released jazz trio album, And To The Republic, which features Jeff Tain Watts and Reginald Veal, and Rockjazz Volume III, which features surprise performances by some of today’s most prominent eclectic pop singers.
