Artists
The Body
The Body is an arty, sludgy duo from Providence that astonishes listeners with how heavy music can sound. Thundering riffs, harsh noise, industrial soundscapes and gospel singing provide a backdrop for apocalyptic lyrics dripping with danger. For this special show they will collaborate with the Assembly of Light Choir, a 30-person, all-female choir who bring a lightness and grace to The Body's innovative, heavy epics. Their newest album is All the Waters of the Earth Turn to Blood
.
the Assembly of Light Women's Choir
The Assembly of Light women’s choir is a ramshackle collection of about twenty women from Providence, RI. They’ve been stealing hours to sing together since late 2008, when composer and singer Chrissy Wolpert invited a few women to her apartment to sing some songs she’d been working on. It went well. They kept coming back.
Work/Death
A one-man sound spectacular with musical tools that vary from performance to performance. Work/Death has been seen blowing minds with heavily processed bass, amplified cymbals, or even bone scraping steel and aluminum objects. Also, sometimes blood, nails, plastic bags and togas. (actually a sarong, not a toga.)
