Dragons of Zynth
DOZ's story is one of an odd and ethereal scope. Think (Fela5000-Miles-under the sea-of-Zep-love-Bowie-tronic-nacht-musicâ.) The DOZ world is a philo-visual landscape where matters of the heart, rationality, and mythos swim in colorful electric pools of deep and unfettered soul fire.

Bronx born and raised in Cleveland, OH the band is fronted by twins, Aku and Akwetey O.T. Having trained classically since the age of 5, Aku and his twin only most recently began playing together. The twins forged their musical knowledge to new territory studying music theory and performance with legendary Jazz saxophonist/flutist Yusef Lateef. Later travels to Africa and South America gave the young men new lenses with which to hone their craft.

The two began unearthing songs engaging Lateef's "auto-physio-psychic" understanding of music, carving new sounds out of rhythms and melodies at once familiar and 'far out'. This signature sound is buried in the fiery pit of debut album Coronation Thieves, a whirlwind of kaleidoscopic visions of the future.

It seems that the twins are indeed in good company. Having found a home in Brooklyn, the burgeoning New York band has all the bright stars aligning. Chicago native Bizza (Drums) joined the band in 2007 houlding court with impressive rhythmic flourish. 'Holding it down' as it were is FonLin Nyeu, the newest addition to DOZ. The fierce and elegant stylings of Ms. Nyeu (Bass), formerly of Knfie Skills, have cemented Dragons as a fine if not deafening listening experience.

Praise has indeed been high for the band's live shows. In the past 2 years DOZ's performances have bolstered a truly majestic sound that now has now gone global, with press and fans a-like coming out of the woodwork. Following the debut release of Coronation Thieves, the Dragons have soared high scoring gigs with Modest Mouse, illustrious upstarts TV on the Radio, Saul Williams, and The Secret Machines.

The limits of this band have no stratospheric end. The world is now peaking out of its' third eye to see these men and lady of Zynth reach new heights. Be sure to catch this winged flight as DOZ hit Europe this Fall with Dates in Germany, France, Belgium, and Italy. Here be the Dragons.

ZUZUKA PODEROSA & WOOLES DJ
Zuzuka Poderosa drops Brazilian bred, Brooklyn based swagger like no other. A stylistic blend of Funk Carioca and NYC rumble add a breath of fresh air to today's international music scene. She's hard to miss with her unapologetic sultry Portuguese lyrics. This, coupled with booty bumping basslines, she packs New York nightclubs like sardines. The early 90's NYC Drum n’ Bass scene inspired her to master the wheels of steel. Now, under the alias of "DJ Babyfresh" she spins rare vinyl and Brazilian gems alongside DJ partner Joel Stones ( Tropicalia in Furs Records ). It was a natural progression for her to grab the mic – her passion for writing and poetry could no longer be ignored. Through her riveting live performances, and America's new appreciation for underground Brazilian music, she now commands an audience worldwide. Zuzuka was recently approached by Samsung to be a part of a national ad campaign "Samsung Juke Box Hero," through which she introduces the public to Zuzuka Poderosa and Baile Funk. "Time Out Singapore: What's in Your Stacks?," section (DJ of the month track review) recently rated her single "Mas Com Você" number one song in the magazine's online article. in collaboration with Nublu Records & Lounge will host a monthly DJ Collective featuring live performances.
