DJ Cosi
Cosi gets down not just for the funk of it, but for the love of it. He spins music like no other DJ on the planet and that is why New York is proud to claim him as one of its own. He spins because nothing else is quite as satisfying. “I play a mix of 70 & 80s R&B classics, funk, 80’s pop, hip-hop, reggae, afro-beat and house music,” Cosi explains. “I have a knack for knowing what people want to hear from just reading the crowd. When I play it, they dance. That’s the best feeling.” The feeling continues, even into his 15th year of spinning, as one of the few DJs who has truly mastered his art. He seamlessly blends several, if not all, of these genres throughout the evening, flawlessly moving the minds and bodies of those in the audience, making him one of the most sought-after DJs in New York City. If you’ve been to one of the myriad parties where Cosi has played, you’d know this experience first hand. Quite simply, his talent touches your soul. Tastemakers at Nike, The Gap, Brooks Brothers, MOMA, Hugo Boss, Timberland, Vibe Magazine, Phat Farm, The Chris Rock Show, Pepsi, The Magic Johnson Foundation, Enyce, Yves Saint Laurent, The National Basketball Players’ Association, The Fader Magazine, the Hudson Hotel, the W Hotel and many others have experienced this first-hand. He has held weekly’s at nightclubs such as Nell’s, Cheetah, Justin’s, APT, Lotus, NV, Float, Metronome, Discotheque, Joe’s Pub, Martinez Gallery, Mission, BLVD, and Café Deville (just to mention a few). All have hired Cosi to set the mood and create the energy for the night. He has created the perfect vibe for parties in a number of cities throughout the U.S. (from New York to Las Vegas to Puerto Rico) and internationally (Mexico, Bahamas, Anguilla to name a few). Cosi has even spun for former President Bill Clinton in the Hamptons! Here’s your chance to dance your way out of your constrictions.
DJ Herbert Holler
I'm the illest promoter/DJ in NYC. I have been commanding the club scene since 2000, murdering dance floors at every NYC venue you can think of. I'm also known for "The Herbert Holler," a free email list of all the hottest music events in town, songs I'm feeling, and a short editorial about life in NYC. Every Friday I'm at the legendary "FREEDOM" party, www.thefreedompartynyc.com, an event I started 6.5 years ago because music sucked, parties were boring, and people stopped dancing. We play strictly classic dance hits from the '60s through today. I can spin anything and everything. Though hip-hop, r&b, old school and classics are my claim-to-fame, right now I'm really into deep soulful house, tech house and global soul, winning over house heads and converting new listeners alike. What sets me apart from other DJs is my connection to the crowd. I play for people, not with myself. I mean for myself. I don't play with myself. Seriously. I don't. I used to, when I was little, but, you know, that's what little kids do. They play with themselves! What? I don't do it anymore!! I DON'T!! Yeah, in the bathroom. Every guy does that in the bathroom. It's the bathroom! It's not in public. What? Whatever a**hole. SHUT UP AND DANCE!!!!!
DJ Marc Smooth
special guest DJ Scratch
For over two decades, DJ Scratch has been everyone’s favorite DJ's favorite DJ. Acknowledged as one of the greatest DJs of all time and in 2006, he was honored in The Source Magazine as a Hip Hop Icon. Scratch is the man who provided the flamboyance to EPMD, Jay Z and P Diddy's stage shows. Throughout the years with EPMD, Scratch drove audiences into frenzies with visual and technical routines far beyond mortal DJs. One of his most famous routines is cutting Big Daddy Kane's "Friday the 13th Imma Play Jason" line as he emerges from beneath the turntable set wearing a hockey mask. Various DJ routines & turntable tricks created by Scratch over the past 15 years are still being duplicated by concert & Battle DJs today.

DJ Scratch is one of THE MOST recognized & respected exhibition, tour & club DJs in the world.

Shortly after winning the New Music Seminar Battle for World Supremacy DJ Championship in 1988, he joined the RUN DMC “Run's House World Tour.” Befriended by the late Jam Master Jay (“JMJ”) of RUN DMC, JMJ mentored Scratch & converted him from a raw battle DJ to an all around performer & showman. In exchange, Scratch taught JMJ DJ solos that he performed in RUN DMC shows ever since. When the tour ended, JMJ recommended Scratch to EPMD, who needed a DJ with flair. After EPMD witnessed the DJ phenomenon do tricks at their first show, they hired Scratch on the spot. The rest is history. Scratch was the Resident DJ for three nationally aired TV Shows; "Hip Hop Hold Em', Fox 5's “Uptown Comedy Club" and B.E.T.'s "Rap City, The Basement". Scratch’s film credits include "Juice", "The Original 50 Cent", "Backstage", "Fly By Night”, "Rhyme & Reason" and Spike Lee's controversial film "Bamboozled”. In addition, Coca Cola commissioned Scratch to produce & feature in their first DJ commercial, "3 DJs”.

Having mastered the art of DJing, Scratch started to pursue his second love, producing. He has produced such hits as the New York Anthem "NY Shit" by Busta Rhymes, EPMD's "Rampage", LL Cool J's "Ill Bomb", 50 Cent's "50 Shot Ya", and a long list of Hip Hop Classics. Scratch's accolades include the 3 Grammy nominations and over 40 Gold and Platinum Awards to his credit which makes DJ Scratch responsible for the sale of over 30 million albums to date. Scratch has always preached to the new generation of DJs that in order to become a complete DJ, you must "crawl before you walk”. Therefore, a DJ must learn to mix & blend before you learn to scratch and cut. By learning in this order, you will have the ability to master all sectors of Djing.

"SO ALL DJ'S SHOULD, START FROM SCRATCH"
live trumpet by Maurice Brown
If your hips are swaying, fingers are snapping and heart is skipping, don’t call the doctor just yet—It might be the Maurice Brown Effect. Feeling good has become symptomatic of audiences from the banks of the Mississippi to the streets of New York, courtesy of soulful jazz trumpeter Maurice “Mobetta” Brown.

Exciting the ears of bebop enthusiasts and hip-hoppers alike, Maurice’s passionate and improvisational rhythms have been electrifying the music industry. Innovation is the key to Maurice’s soulful melodies, which have graced both legend Aretha Franklin and urban legend Talib Kweli’s versatile recordings. The response from both old and new schoolers pushed Maurice’s 2004 debut album, Hip to Bop, onto top ten charts across the country.

Maurice is an unpretentious, cultured soul with a strong musical backbone. Raised in south Chicago, Maurice was awarded a full music scholarship to Northern Illinois University upon graduating from Hillcrest High School. After winning first place in the esteemed National Miles Davis Trumpet Competition, Maurice found new flavor in the heart of Louisiana, where he continued his studies at Southern University—and captivated audiences weekly, headlining at New Orleans’ premiere jazz club, Snug Harbor.

Maurice currently resides in New York where he is finishing his sophomore album, Hip to Bop II, while immersed in a grittier urban settingxpectations are high for the release, which will showcase Maurice’s talents as a trumpeter, composer, and bandleader as well as the fierce, down-home melodies we love him for. Like legendary trumpeter, Clark Terry said, "Brownie is the young trumpeter to watch for sure. I see young cats all over the world and Maurice has it.” And we want it.
