LPR and 4AD Present:

Description

This event will feature full playback of Blonde Redhead's new album, "Penny Sparkle"

Penny Sparkle was recorded in New York & Stockholm, with Van Rivers and the Subliminal Kid getting production credits.

Here is a quote from lead singer Kazu Mazino about the record:
“I can’t say what Penny Sparkle is about just yet. I remember talking to Ed (from 4AD) one day and telling him that I had a vision that I was traveling to far away places to complete it. Then I landed in snowy slippery Stockholm….. and here. I fell in love with the music like falling for someone you’ve known for a long time. It was dreamy and sometimes was very stormy. At times I felt like a shepherd who was trying to herd five stallions into a yard (unsuccessfully). I felt like I was a link to everyone. I remained still and the others were constantly moving around it. I am not sure what Penny Sparkle is but I hope I offered to them as much as they offered me. I know that we have never made a record this way and if I could go back in time, I would do it exactly the same way again.”

This is a first come, fully standing, gallery event.

DJ Scribe (I Love Vinyl) Presents:

Description

The End of the Night is a new weekly exploration into sound and movement. The End of the Night will feature a far-reaching selection of long-form, challenging, left of dance, music for sure-footed dancers and adventurous listeners. Songs will be played in full, for the most part, with little mixing, in the tradition of David Mancuso/The Loft.

The name refers to the music being what you might usually only hear at the end of the night, when both the dj and the dancers have more room to stretch out.

House dance scene fixture/documentarienne Amanda Adams Louis, aka Lafotographeuse, will be on hand to capture the energy for posterity.

I am super excited to begin this journey. All that wish to come along are welcome. I want to nurture a community/family vibe, and a safe, exploring space for dancers and listeners who are open to a wide range of music. To say that there will be nothing commercial is an understatement. There will hardly be "classics". What there will be, or what I am endeavoring to bring to this, is a breath of fresh air, music you may know, music you may not, and my passion for good music of all kinds. To even mentions genres would be antithetical to the freeform nature of the party. Quality, creativity, beauty, love, respect, and the pulse, be it loud or soft, fast or slow, will rule the day.

I want to say explicitly, since it is one of the main things that has been lost in the commercialization of nightlife culture, that diversity and inclusiveness of all kinds (age, gender, heritage, orientation, nationality, etc.) are absolutely necessary for the success, in my mind, of this endeavor. That means that you, whoever and wherever you are, are warmly invited.

I know this is an unlikely and Utopian endeavor, and that's exactly the kind of party I hope to build with you.
